1. Pass the first-photo test
Open the profile at normal phone size and look only at photo one. It should be immediately obvious which person you are, what you look like now, and whether your expression feels open. The opener is identification before it is personality.
Do not lead with a group, distant landscape, sunglasses, helmet, heavy filter, extreme crop, or a photo where another person pulls focus. Those images may have a later role, but they make the first decision harder.

2. Give every photo a different job
Review the lineup as a sequence, not six separate scores. After the clear lead, add a different distance or setting, then evidence of personality, activity, social context, or a specific interest.
Two photos that communicate the same thing compete for one slot. Keep the stronger frame and use the opening for information the profile does not yet have.

3. Remove the doubt creators
One weak image can make the rest of the lineup feel less trustworthy. Remove photos that are meaningfully older, blur your face, rely on aggressive filters, hide your appearance, or contradict the way you look elsewhere.
Also look for accidental signals: an ex visibly cropped from the frame, a dirty mirror, a screenshot interface, a bathroom background, or several images from the same ten-minute session.
4. Check the order, not just the selection
Put the strongest evidence first. Do not save the clearest portrait for slot four in the hope that someone will keep looking. The sequence should move from recognition to range, then finish with recall.
Temporarily turn off automatic photo reordering while you evaluate the lineup. Otherwise you are testing a moving sequence instead of the deliberate story you built.
5. Make the bio add something new
A useful bio is short, specific, and answerable. It should reveal a detail the photos cannot: a ritual, opinion, skill, plan, or small glimpse of what time with you feels like.
Delete lists of generic traits, complaints about dating apps, instructions for who should swipe left, and lines that could belong to almost anyone. Read the final version aloud; it should sound spoken, not advertised.

6. Complete the trust details
Make sure age, location, relationship intention, work, education, and connected interests are accurate where you choose to show them. Empty fields are not automatically bad, but contradictions create avoidable uncertainty.
Use verification features available to you and never represent generated or heavily altered images as documentary photos of your real appearance.
7. Preview the real mobile crop
A strong original can fail after Tinder crops it. Preview every frame at the size and aspect ratio people will actually see. Check that faces, hands, pets, and the action remain understandable without opening the full image.
Look once on a smaller phone and once with reduced brightness. If the opener only works when enlarged, it is not doing its job.
8. Run the stranger test
Hide the name and ask what a stranger can confidently infer after five seconds. They should be able to identify you, describe two or three real dimensions of your life, and find at least one easy conversation opening.
Fix the first unanswered question, publish, and measure the response before replacing everything. A deliberate change teaches you more than a complete random reset.
