Minimum requirements are different from a useful photo count
Tinder says a valid face photo is required in many regions and that a profile can be hidden if it cannot detect one. That is a visibility requirement, not advice to fill every available photo slot.

A four-photo lineup you can build now
Start with a recognizable portrait, then a wider current photo, a real activity and an everyday or social moment. A social photo is optional: if you do not have a clear one with permission to use it, choose a different genuine interest instead.

Count jobs, not files
Every photo should answer a different question. Once recognition, current appearance, fuller-body context, personality, and social or lifestyle range are covered, an extra image must earn its slot.

- Do the photos show the same current person?
- What does time with you look like?
- What do you genuinely do?
- What can someone ask about?
Four strong photos can be enough
A compact lineup can work when the opener is clear and the remaining images cover different distances and contexts. Do not add a weak group photo or old travel image only to make the profile look complete.
The tradeoff is that each slot carries more work. If two of four images are similar, half the profile is repeating itself.
Five or six photos allow a fuller sequence
A longer lineup can separate recognition, full-body context, activity, social proof, lifestyle, and a memorable closer. It works only when those are genuinely different signals.
Six photos from one wedding, one photoshoot, or one mirror session still create a one-note profile.
Remove the photo that lowers trust
The weakest image can create more doubt than the extra quantity removes. Cut anything outdated, heavily filtered, difficult to identify, visibly low quality, or inconsistent with your current appearance.

- Another person mistaken for a partner
- Photo needs a caption to make sense
Order the final set before publishing
Lead with recognition, confirm the same person at a different distance, then add personality and context. Quantity answers how much material you have; order decides whether people reach it.
